The statewide event raises awareness about art education and art as a creative force in our communities.
Trends, the journal of the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA), is published annually and is distributed to its members at the state conference.
In 2016, the theme for Big Art Day was “My TEXAS Artistic Style.” Dr. Michaelann Kelley, program director for fine arts, initiated the theme for Aldine ISD.
TAEA focused on the statewide art celebration in the 2016 Trends edition. Featured in the article is Aldine ISD’s celebration.
“It was exciting that our district opened the story about Big Art Day,” said Kelley. “Aldine was showcased on two pages.
“Trends-Journal-for-TAEA-2016I couldn‘t be more proud. We have a great art program and we have many talented teachers and students. Big Art Day is one of many art events we celebrate.
“As educators, it is our job to promote quality visual arts education by advocating it as an integral element of learning.”
Readers will also find Kelley in the magazine. She is one of 12 educators profiled from across the state.
