The MacArthur Generals cross country team won their ninth straight district championship by finishing in first place at the District 16-6A Cross Country Meet on Oct. 12 at Lone Star College-North Harris. The MacArthur High Generals cross country team won its ninth straight district title when they took top honors at the District 16-6A Cross Country Meet, held Thursday, Oct. 12 at Lone Star College-North Harris.

MacArthur outpaced Westfield and Spring High to earn first-place honors and earn a trip to the Region II Cross Country meet, set for Monday, Oct. 23 in Grand Prairie.

In the girls’ division, the MacArthur Lady Generals finished in third place and also qualified for the Region II Meet.

The Generals finished first, second, third and sixth individually to ease to the league title under the direction of head coach Xang Chareunsab and assistant coach Jonny Lennon.

Michael Skinner finished first individually, teammate Joel Garza finished second individually, Xavier Cerda finished third individually and Michael Peraza finished sixth individually. Other Generals who contributed to the victory were Jonathon Blanco, Abraham Gandara and Rafael Guerrero.

In the girls’ division, MacArthur’s Erika Banda finished first individually. Other Lady Generals who competed at the district meet were Britney Ramirez, Vivian Lugo, Samantha Hernandez, Nuvia Salazar Tapia, Flora Gutierrez and Olga Robles.

Other Aldine ISD runners who qualified for the Region II Meet by placing among the top 10 individuals were Devon Petitt (fourth individually) of Eisenhower High School, Juan Gaucin (seventh individually) of Aldine High School, and Evelyn Estrada (ninth individually) of Davis High School.
