KPRC 2 meteorologist Britta Merwin grabs students’ attention with a science experiment.

KPRC 2 meteorologist Britta Merwin visited Conley Elementary School on Feb. 7 to talk to students about her career in meteorology. A self-proclaimed weather nut, Britta dreamed of being a meteorologist since the age of eight when her local meteorologist visited her school. Now, she is giving back by inspiring future meteorologists.

Students in grades 1 – 3 listened as Merwin spoke about her career. She encouraged them to pursue careers in science-related fields.

Merwin also grabbed students’ attention with a few different science experiments she performed in front of them. A couple of the experiments had the students in awe.

Before ending her presentation, she gave a few words of advice.

When you grow up, be sure to do what makes you excited,” said Merwin. “By following your dreams and working toward making them a reality, you will be successful.

KPRC 2 will air the video of Merwin’s visit at Conley during the 6 a.m. news hour program on Friday, Feb. 8. If viewers miss the broadcast tomorrow evening, they can visit the KPCE 2 website to find the segment with links to the experiments that Merwin did at the school.

Thank you KPRC 2 & Britta Merwin!
