Generals Cruise to 11th Straight Cross Country Title

The MacArthur High School cross country team won its 11th straight district title on Thursday, Oct. 17. The Generals dominated the field sweeping the top five individual places to earn a perfect score of 15 points. Pictured are, bottom row (l-r): Emiliano Flores, Xavier Cerda and Justin Rose. The District 16-6A Meet was held at Lone Star College-North Harris. The Generals advanced to the Region II Meet, scheduled for Oct. 28 in Dallas at the Jessie Owens Memorial Complex.

The MacArthur High cross country team dominated the field at the District 16-6A Cross Country Meet, earning a perfect score of 15 to advance to the Region II Meet, slated for Monday, Oct. 28 in Dallas at the Jessie Owens Memorial Complex.

The Generals, under the direction of head coach Xang Chareunsab and assistant coach Kelly Silha, swept the top five individual places en route to the dominating victory. The Aldine High Mustangs finished in second place to also earn a trip to the regional meet.

In the girls’ division, MacArthur finished second overall and Aldine placed third and both squads also advanced to the Region II Meet in Dallas.

The Generals consisted of Emiliano Flores, Xavier Cerda, Justin Rose, Allan Martinez, Jay Hernandez, Giovanni Silva and Sabas Torres.

The Aldine High boys’ team consisted of Brian Williams, Edward Mota, Christopher Lovao, Daniel Plascencia and Jairo Hernandez.

The MacArthur girls’ team consisted of Samantha Hernandez, Olga Robles, Vivian Lugo, Izabel Banda, Julieta Vega, Ashley Sosa and Flora Gutierrez.

The Aldine girls’ team consisted of Keiara Toney Joyner, Kiarrah Thompson, Hope Nwogu, Yessenia Ramirez, Jacelyn Gutierrez and Hannah Chavez.

Alex Doyle, Byron Doyle and Erika Sanchez of Nimitz High advanced to regionals by finishing in the top 10 individually.
