District to Take Part in Go Texan Day

This event has been rescheduled for Friday, March 6.

Rodeo fans, it is time to dust off your boots and cowboy hats. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is right around the corner.

The rodeo will begin its annual run at the NRG Park complex on March 3, 2020.

To recognize Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s significant contributions to public education, Aldine ISD will be observing “Go Texan Day” on Friday, February 28, 2020. District employees and students who wish to take part are encouraged to come to work and school dressed in their best “Western wear.”

For more than 80 years, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has been a valuable educational partner. Each year, more than 800 scholarships are awarded to Texas students by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™. As one of the largest scholarship providers in the U.S., the Rodeo has presented more than 19,000 scholarships valued at $230 million since 1957. Currently, more than 2,300 students — including Aldine ISD grads — are on Rodeo scholarships, attending more than 80 different Texas colleges and universities. The value of these scholarships is more than $50 million.
