The department of theater at Carver HS for Engineering, Applied Technology and the Arts has charted a student chapter of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT). The campus is making history. Carver is the first school to have a USITT student chapter in the Aldine Independent School District.

Formed in 1960, USITT is an organization that connects performing arts design and technology communities to ensure a dialog among practitioners, educators, and students. The student chapter offers students the opportunity to expand their knowledge of theater technology, adopt service projects, and connect with other student chapters and professionals in the field of theatre design and technology. Today, the Institute boasts thousands of members at all levels of their careers.

The Carver High School USITT student chapter currently has 20 members. Jabari Collins, the technical theater director at the campus, will serve as the mentor.
