Aldine Education Foundations Awards More Than $490,000 in Scholarships to Aldine ISD Seniors

For 364 Aldine ISD seniors, the path to their future became clearer as they earned more than 490,000 in scholarships through the Aldine Education Foundation (AEF).

Students representing all Aldine High Schools were recognized April 17 during the annual scholarship awards ceremony. Surrounded by family, friends, educators, and community supporters, the seniors were celebrated for their achievements and the paths they are preparing to pursue after graduation. The ceremony brought hundreds of students together, highlighting the collective impact of scholarships across the district.

“This is what dedication looks like. This is what the future looks like,” said Aldine Education Foundation Director Jermani Atkinson. “To our students, you earned this. Every late night, every challenge and every moment of discipline brought you here, and we are proud of you.”

The scholarships, made possible through the Aldine Education Foundation, community partners and donors, help remove financial barriers and expand access to higher education and career pathways.

Each year, the foundation works alongside donors, volunteers and district staff to identify and support students who have demonstrated determination both inside and outside the classroom.

“Today is about what happens when a community chooses to invest in the future of its students,” said Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney. “You represent Aldine ISD’s best, not just by grades or achievements, but through perseverance, character and belief in what’s possible for your life.”

Aldine ISD alumna Coral Almazan, a former scholarship recipient, shared how the support helped shape her journey.

“At the time, I didn’t see it as an award, I saw it as a lifeline,” Almazan said. “It gave me a chance to focus on my education and become the person I wanted to be.”

For many students, the scholarships provide critical support as they take the next step after graduation, allowing them to focus on their education and long-term goals.

Adrian Garcia-Rosales of Aldine High School said he plans to major in aerospace or mechanical engineering and is still weighing his college options. Receiving a scholarship, he said, is already helping him move forward.

“I’m very grateful for receiving a scholarship,” said Garcia-Rosales. “One thousand dollars can go a long way, and it’s helping me take my next steps toward college.”

Ofely Morales of Avalos P-TECH School, who received a $2,000 scholarship, plans to attend the University of Houston and major in Biology.

“It’s such a great opportunity, and it will really help me as I prepare for my future career,” said Morales.

Students also credited their counselors and college advisors for guiding them through the scholarship process and ensuring they had the support needed to apply.

The Aldine Education Foundation opens scholarship applications for seniors each year.
