National History Day Projects Advance to State
Disponible en: Español
Congratulations to the 2015 National History Day state qualifiers from Aldine ISD.
The first and second place winners of the regional event will advance to the state event. They will compete May 2 in Austin.
Aldine ISD will have 88 students from 14 different schools competing at [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Texas History Day.
Every year [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]National History Day (NHD)frames students’ research within a historical theme. This year’s theme is “Leadership & Legacy in History.” The annual themes for National History Day provide an opportunity for students to focus on a person, group or historical event. Their research of the past will help them gain a better understanding of our world today. The goal is that students develop an understanding of people and societies.
National History Day students learn to dig deep in their research. The program challenges students to conduct inquiry. They develop research skills, analytical thinking, literacy skills and creative expression. Aldine ISD social studies program directors encourage students to take part in NHD. The constant honing of skills [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]helps students be successful.
State NHD contest winners will be eligible to attend the National History Day Contest. The national event takes place each year at the University of Maryland at College Park in June. This is where the best National History Day projects from the U.S. all meet and compete.
Again, congratulations to all who placed in the regional event. And good luck to everyone who advanced to the State History Fair!
