About Aldine Libraries


Staffing: Aldine libraries are staffed by certified school librarians. Certification as a school librarian in Texas requires at least two years of teaching experience, completion of a graduate level program in library science, a Master's degree, and a passing score on the state library certification exam.

Electronic Resources: Aldine Library Services provides online databases, ebooks, and digital audiobooks with 24/7 access available through the Aldine ISD website.

Print and Audiovisual Resources: Books and AVmaterials are available for checkout by Aldine ISD students, parents, and employees. These groups check out about 1.5 million items a year .

Interlibrary Loan: Materials can be borrowed from any Aldine campus library.  Approximately 20,000 items are shared between schools each year.


Check out: Aldine ISD students, parents, and employees may check out library materials. Students in all grade levels are encouraged to take library materials home.

Renewal: Students, parents and teachers may renew items if they need to keep them for longer than the checkout period.

Overdue fines: Students in EC/PreK through grade four are not charged overdue fines. Students in grades five through twelve are charged an overdue fine of ten cents per day, per item, not to exceed a maximum of three dollars per item.

Damaged materials: All borrowers will be charged a damage fine when appropriate. If a damaged item cannot be repaired the borrower will be charged the replacement cost of the item.

Lost items: All borrowers will be charged the replacement cost of any lost library materials.
