The Eisenhower High School Golden Eaglettes drill team brought home first-place honors with solos and duets at the American Drill Team Contest, held Feb. 15-16 at Morton Ranch High School in Katy. They competed against some of the best teams in Texas and placed third overall.

In addition to winning the overall team title, a number of Golden Eaglettes won individual awards. Myka O’Neal and Shawnta Cotton placed first in the Duet competition, while Jasmine Warner and Ajaysia Whitehurst earned solo finalist honors.

The Golden Eaglettes took top honors in the following categories:

  • Voted by their peers as the Most Outstanding dance team at the contest
  • Top Judges Awards in Team Jazz, Team Lyrical and Team Hip-Hop
  • Judges Award for the “Wow Factor” in Team Jazz
  • Sweepstakes Award winners
  • Best Technique for Team Jazz, Team Lyrical and Team Hip-Hop
  • Best Presentation/Showmanship in Team Jazz, Team Lyrical and Team Hip-Hop
  • Best Choreography for Team Jazz, Team Lyrical and Team Hip-Hop
  • Team Gussie Nell Davis Award of Excellence (this is only awarded to the top team at the competition)
  • Gold Award for all Team dances
  • Best of the Best Dance Team

The Golden Eaglettes are made up of students from Eisenhower High School and Carver High School. The team is under the direction of Tywashika Weathers and Yasmine Teague.
