The following is Aldine ISD's response to the Houston Chronicle's July 3 on-line article concerning behavior issues at Houston-area high schools.

"Aldine ISD documents all student events including tardy, dress code and ID violations. These are reported to TEA as violation of student code of conduct incidents. We are aware that these violations inflate the data reported to TEA that was reflected in the Houston Chronicle report. However, we believe recording such violations enable us to make better decisions when evaluating our processes and procedures.

Aldine ISD recognizes that the vast majority of our students exhibit appropriate conduct on a daily basis and we put great effort in providing the necessary support for our students and training for our teachers to address those students who do exhibit inappropriate behaviors."
