Aldine ISD is proud to announce its first high school specifically designed for medical pathways in partnership with Memorial Hermann. HEAL will be located at the Nimitz Ninth Grade campus. Students will be able to choose one of five in-demand pathways.

Key Features

  • Work-based learning (in hospital and clinic settings) and classroom-based experiences (guest lecturers, workshops, mock hospital skills simulations)
  • Memorial Hermann Mentor Program starting in 9th grade and continuing one year after graduation
  • Volunteer opportunities starting in 9th grade and employment opportunities starting in 11th grade
  • Summer Infusion Program starting in 8th grade to enhance students’ knowledge, skills, and professionalism – with stipend opportunities beginning in 11th grade
  • Guaranteed, priority interview at Memorial Hermann for pathway position(s)

Nursing

Pathway Goals

  • At least 1 Industry recognized and valued certification: CMA, CNA, PCT, phlebotomy
  • 15-24 transferable college credits toward TX core content and pathway-specific credits
  • Remaining 1-2 semesters (summer semester) to complete LVN and/or associate degree
  • Prioritized admission for RN programs at post-secondary partner (pending)

Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation

Pathway Goals

  • At least 1 Industry recognized and valued certification: certified personal trainer, PCT, EKG
  • 15-24 transferable college credits toward TX core content and pathway-specific credits
  • Direct entry to COTA/PTA associate degree programs (pending)

Medical Imaging

Pathway Goals

  • At least 1 Industry recognized and valued certification: endoscopy
  • 15-24 transferable college credits toward TX core content and pathway-specific credits

Pharmacy

HEAL Summer Infusion

Each summer HEAL students will have the opportunity to engage in an immersive experience and dive deep into hands-on learning both on campus and in the hospital setting. From simulations and workshops to mentorship opportunities, students will gain valuable insights and skills that will set them up for success in their HEAL journey.

The Health Education And Learning (HEAL) at Nimitz programming at the Nimitz Ninth Grade building will transition into a health medical program. Students in the HEAL program will grow the programming for classes over the next four academic years.

The HEAL program will continue at the Nimitz Ninth Grade building for the foreseeable future.

For the 2024-25 school year, the plan is to locate the program in the same space as the Nimitz Ninth Grade students. The following year, 2025-26, the Nimitz Ninth building will house all 9th-grade students plus the 10th-grade HEAL students. In the 2026-27 school year, the non-HEAL students will transition to Nimitz HS, leaving the Nimitz Ninth Grade building as the Nimitz HEAL program. This will phase out the ninth-grade stand-alone building at Nimitz Ninth Grade campus. Both Nimitz buildings will serve Grades 9 -12 students starting in the 2027-28 school year.
