Elves & More Partners With Gray Elementary School

Gray Elementary School held an Elves & More program kick-off celebration on September 24. The campus and charitable organization have joined forces for the 2013-2014 school year to motivate students to do well in school.

Elves & More strives to change lives – one bike at a time. The organization provides bicycles to underprivileged children, which allows them to get to after school events, tutors, mentors, and jobs.

The partnership will enable Gray Elementary to provide a bicycle to more than 750 students if they achieve their fluency goals. Each student signs a contract with his or her teacher. If the student meets the contract, he or she will earn a bike. Each student in kindergarten through third grade will sit down with his or her teacher and set a fluency goal that must be achieved by a given date during the fall semester. Students are also required to have a conduct grade of excellent (“E”) or satisfactory (“S”) along with a 98% attendance rate.

On December 14, the Elves will deliver the bicycles to the students who have accomplished their goals.

Assistant Principal Scott Dubberke is very excited about the program.

“We look forward to putting many smiles on students faces,” said Dubberke. “And we are excited that Elves & More has partnered with us to provide a great incentive to our students to increase their fluency levels.”
