MacArthur High Generals Claim 5th Straight 18-5A Cross Country Title

The MacArthur High Generals took first-place honors at the District 18-5A cross country meet, while Nimitz High finished second. The MacArthur High girls’ team finished second in their respective division.

The Generals, under the direction of head coach Kelly Silha and assistant coach Xang Charensaub, won their fifth straight league title to advance to the Region II Meet, scheduled Saturday, Nov. 2 in Atascocita. The Cougars, under the direction of head coach Dennis Brazy, will also compete at the regional meet.

The Generals team consisted of Jonathan Martínez, Abraham Pineda, Andrew Peña, Gerardo Villareal, Francisco Hernández, Luis Yáñez and Eulisis García.

The Cougars team consisted of Giovanni Fuentes, Alex Bazán, Stephen Rivera, Brian González, Elijah Lowe, Christian Ortega and Brent Vela.

The Lady Generals team consisted of Carolina García, Elisenda Rodríguez, Kimberly Gutiérrez, Diana Avilés, Karen Monzón, Stephanie Rodríguez and Miriam Cortez.
