Carver Thespians Perform at Texas State Thespian Festival
The Carver High School Theater Troupe recently performed at the Texas State Thespian Festival.
The Troupe performed their play, A Bay Year for Tomatoes, to a crowd of approximately 200 fellow thespians.
Nyles Washington was one of 34 students who received a $1,000 Thespian Scholarship from the Texas Thespians. He also served on the Student State Board, which serves as the student governing board for Texas Thespians. Washington was one of 12 students from across Texas to serve on the Board.
Additionally, 21 Carver students competed in individual events at the Festival and all of them advanced to nationals.

In addition, three students (Kayla Lowery, Dionna Malone and Jayla Rhodes) served on the Texas State Honor Crew. Louis Butler received a superior rating for the Texas All-Star Troupe Video.
Washington also auditioned for a number of colleges and universities and received 25 callbacks, which was one of the highest number of callbacks any student received at the Festival.
