Stehlik Intermediate Students Advance to Yellow Belts in After-School Karate Program

The students at Stehlik Intermediate School recently completed their rank test. They are part of the karate CASE (Cooperative for After-School Enrichment) Program at the campus.

For the first time in the history of the program at the campus, four students advanced from no belt and up two and three belts to yellow and orange. In karate, there are nine belts — white, yellow, orange, red, green, blue, purple, brown and black.

Instructor Chelsea Scott from Northside Karate places special emphasis in reinforcing skills and character development that will last a lifetime. Through karate, students gain confidence, mental alertness, discipline, and self-defense. Participants in the program also have higher academic achievement goals and are more respectful toward others.
