Megan, who raised herself since the age of 12, demonstrated her lithe, light-footed routine, which mixed sadness and elation into her audition. According to some online commentators, she’s a serious contender for the Season 11 crown.
Rosalyn Sweat, principal at Carver High, is proud of Megan. In Megan’s backstory, she describes how circumstances affected her life, but how families, friends and teachers helped her. She went on to finish high school, earn a scholarship and finish college. Now, Megan loves her life and is showing the world her love for dance.
“Her story sends a powerful message to show us (educators) how important our jobs are to the lives of children,” said Sweat. “Her story is so touching. She was a star a Carver High and now everyone is getting a chance to see her talent.”
