Eisenhower High Students Shine at FCCLA State Contest

Eisenhower High School’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students attended the State Conference in Corpus Christi this spring where students competed in STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events. Three Ike High students placed in the top five in their respective categories.

Cynthia Umanzor, Ninoska Soto, Jordy Ríos, Jazmín Cambron, and Jessica Blanco from the Delta Chapter competed along with Sunny Souvannarath, Mayela Hernández and Elizabeth Martínez from the Call to Serve in Hospitality Chapter.

The conference and STAR Events give FCCLA members a chance to network with students from across the state, attend workshops and leadership sessions.

The Delta Chapter decided to prepare 46 hygiene packs for the state service learning project benefiting Good Samaritan Rescue Mission, a shelter for the homeless. Jennifer Reyes led the effort. Stephanie Hall and Ann Scheelter also made contributions toward the students’ project. Frances Fowler-Carter (Delta Chapter) and Amie Francis (Call to Serve in Hospitality) serve as the students’ advisors.
