Kujawa Elementary School Choir Selected to Perform at TMEA Convention

The Texas Music Educators Association has selected Kujawa Elementary School’s Eagle Choir to perform for its upcoming convention in 2015. The group will perform at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12 at the San Antonio González Convention Center.

The Kujawa Elementary Eagle Choir is one of eight groups selected to perform at the event. Samantha Tate submitted an audition tape last May. Tate serves as the choir director at the campus. She received notification during the summer that TMEA selected the school’s choir.

Colleen Riddle is proud of the group. Riddle serves as program director of elementary performing arts education in the district.

“This is a huge honor,” said Riddle. “TMEA selected Kujawa’s choir from among all the elementary choirs that auditioned. That is pretty amazing and indicates not only how talented this young choir is but also how talented Ms. Tate is as a choir director.”

According to Tate, the students have been working diligently during their choir rehearsals.

Riddle hopes the community can see the students perform at the convention in San Antonio in February. But for those that won’t be able to attend, they will have an opportunity to hear the young choral group sing here at home.

“Folks will be able to hear the Kujawa Elementary Eagle Choir sing at their pre-TMEA concert in January,” said Riddle.

The pre-TMEA concert will take place at the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]M.O. Campbell Educational Center‘s (1865 Aldine Bender • Houston, TX 77032) theater on January 29 at 7 p.m.
