Cookies for a Cause has become a tradition at Hambrick Middle School. The annual campaign raises funds to help Rachel Herrera in her fight against cancer.

Rachel is a front office clerk at the campus. Three years ago, her doctors diagnosed her with cervical cancer. Her doctors at M.D. Anderson Hospital attacked the cancer with chemo and radiation therapy.

Thanks to Principal Dr. Rebecca Hoyt, she turned a tough situation into a positive one that everyone could support. She teamed up with Chick-fil-A® to conceive a fundraiser for Rachel. From this collaboration, Cookies for a Cause was born.

Between now and February 28 folks can help Rachel by visiting the Chick-fil-A® on 59 and Little York (Houston 77093).

A part of all cookie sales (including individual cookies, 6-count cookie packs and cookie trays) will help Rachel with medical bills and expenses.

I hope the community buys a lot of cookies to support Rachel,” said Hoyt. “At times, we all need a helping hand. This is our way to show Rachel our support.
