Eisenhower High School’s Sabrina Ball Named District 18-6A Girls Soccer Coach of the Year

Sabrina Ball from Eisenhower High School has been voted the District 18-6A Girls’ Soccer Coach of the Year. Under Ball’s leadership, the girls’ soccer team had an incredible run this year.

Ben Ibarra lauds Coach Ball making changes that improved the team’s performance. Ibarra serves as principal at the campus.

“Coach Ball has brought our girls’ soccer team to a higher level,” Ibarra said. “Everyone at Eisenhower High School is proud of her accomplishments.”

But the humble coach lauds the student athletes for their dedication to the sport. Ronnie Nicks serves as assistant coach.

According to Ball, the team had many returning athletes this year. She saw much potential in this. She wanted that experience to strengthen the rest of the team as well as develop the new talent.

“We entered district games undefeated with a winning record of 5-0-1,” Ball said. “This is something the Lady Eagle’s soccer team has never done before.

This small accomplishment tremendously boosted our confidence. Throughout the rest of the season, my girls played with fire and tenacity.“

The team fell one game short of making school history and advancing to the playoffs. The team ended a historic season with a 10-7-1 overall record. The program has come from being last in the district over the years to competing for play-off spots for years to come.

“What we did this year will have a positive affect on the girls’ soccer program at Ike for a long time,” Ball added. “It is satisfying that all the hard work paid off. To have the success we had is special.“
