Nimitz High School Graduate Alcmene González Heads to Lone Star College, Selected as Chancellor’s Fellow

Congratulations to [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Alcmene González from [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Nimitz High School. [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Lone Star College‘s [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Honors College selected Alcmene as a [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Chancellor’s Fellow. The 2015 graduate will attend the Honors College starting in the fall.

The Chancellor’s Fellows Scholarship is a highly competitive award. The College selects only a limited number of incoming freshman as Fellows. Recipients of this award receive an award package that includes tuition and fees, and a book allowance. The Fellows also receive an allowance per semester. The award helps students pursue a course of study. The program culminates with Fellows obtaining an Honors Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree.

Recipients also have an opportunity to take part in several all-expenses-paid study abroad opportunities.

The Honors College at Lone Star College creates a unique learning environment. The Chancellor’s Fellows curriculum involves a two-year course plan of study. The curriculum includes a six-hour cohort course. Students take this course during the first semester. Fellows also take additional required honors courses.

Alcmene intends to pursue a degree in international relations. After she completes her fellowship, Alcmene plans to transfer to the University of Texas at Austin to complete her bachelor’s degree.
