Seven AISD soccer teams earn playoff spots

Seven Aldine ISD soccer programs earned playoff spots and will begin play in the Class 6A state playoffs on Thursday, March 24.

In girls’ soccer, Aldine High School finished second in District 18-6A. The Lady Mustangs are coached by Helen Davey. MacArthur also advanced as the Lady Generals, coached by Saul Zamora, finished third in 18-6A. Also making the playoffs were the Eisenhower Lady Eagles, coached by Sabrina Ball. This marks the first time in school history that Eisenhower advanced to the state playoffs in girls’ soccer.

In boys’ soccer, the Nimitz Cougars finished first in District 18-6A. The Cougars are coached by Salvador Fernandez. The Davis Falcons, coached by Efrain Rios, finished second in league play. The Aldine Mustangs, coached by Melbin Barahona, finished third in district play. The MacArthur Generals coached by Alfredo Casula finished fourth in 18-6A. Below are playoff sites and times:

GIRLS’ SOCCER: all games – Thursday, March 24
• MacArthur vs. Cy-Ranch at Thorne Stadium – 4 p.m.
• Aldine vs. Cy-Creek at Morton Ranch High School (Katy ISD) – 5 p.m.
• Eisenhower vs. Cy-Woods at Berry Center (CFISD) – 8 p.m.

BOYS’ SOCCER: all games – Thursday, March 24
• MacArthur vs. Jersey Village at Berry Center (CFISD) – 6 p.m.
• Nimitz vs. Cy-Springs at Thorne Stadium – 6 p.m.
• Davis vs. Cy-Ranch at Tomball High School – 7 p.m.
• Aldine vs. Cy-Lakes at Thorne Stadium – 8 p.m.

Tickets for all games are $5 for adults and students. THSCA, TGCA, THSADA and District 17-6A and 18-6A passes will be accepted. AISD teachers can get into the games with their school ID.
