ERP Bright Spot: Aldine ISD’s Victory Early College High School Earns Texas Honor Roll Status

Campuses with the designation exhibit consistently high achievement in student success.

[dropcap color=”#888″ type=”square”]T[/dropcap]he Educational Results Partnership ([icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]ERP) and Institute for Productivity in Education ([icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]IPE) named Victory Early College High to the 2015 Texas Honor Roll.

The organizations showcase schools that display consistent high levels of student academic achievement. They show improvement over time with a reduction in achievement gaps among student populations. For high schools, the Honor Roll also includes a measure of college readiness.

The Honor Roll is a national effort to identify higher-performing schools. The recognition highlights successful practices that improve outcomes for students.

Schools can earn a spot on the Honor Roll in one of two categories: Star School or Scholar Schools. The 2015 Honor Roll includes 713 schools. Star Schools are those with significant populations of socio-economically disadvantaged students. Scholar Schools do not have a significant socio-economically disadvantaged student population. Whether the campuses are “Star” or “Scholar,” they are demonstrating student academic achievement.

Victory Early College High School was designated a high-performing Star School.

Dr. Phyllis Cormier is proud of the prestigious recognition from ERP. Cormier is the campus principal.

“I am so proud of the staff at Victory,” said Cormier. “I also have to laud our Board of Trustees and the Superintendent of Schools. We all work hard to give students the best education possible.

And I have to recognize our Victory Early College High School students. Our students have chosen to take on the rigorous program.

The students have chosen to fast-track their future. They are completing college coursework while completing high school. This is no easy feat. So I applaud them for taking responsibility of their own education.”

Since 2011 the Institute promotes ways to maximize public education productivity. They convene policy makers, business and civic leaders, and educators to consider new approaches. They gather and review large-scale data to find schools that work. The Institute also provides support, insight, and feedback on ways to improve schools.

Educational Results Partnership is a national alliance of business and academia. Using the nation’s largest database on student achievement, the ERP uncovers successful schools. The organization promotes schools’ best practices.
