TCTELA Names Stehlik Intermediate School’s Laura Hamilton Top English Language Arts Teacher

The Award recognizes Hamilton’s exemplary teaching skills and leadership at the elementary level.

[dropcap color=”#888″ type=”square”]T[/dropcap]he Texas Council of Teachers of English Language Arts (TCTELA) recently named Laura Hamilton as the 2017 Elementary Teacher of the Year. 

The organization works to advance the literacy growth of all Texas students. [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]TCTELA is a diverse network of professionals. It provides professional development based on best practices in education. TCTELA annually recognizes outstanding elementary, middle and high school teachers as well as college educators.

Hamilton will accept her award at the TCTELA conference set for Jan. 20-22 in Fort Worth.

TCTELA honored Hamilton for her exemplary teaching skills and leadership. She teaches at Stehlik Intermediate School. Hamilton has 14 years of teaching experience with 11 of those years in Aldine ISD.

This not the first time Hamilton receives recognition. She is Aldine ISD’s 2016 Elementary/Intermediate Teacher of the Year. Region 4 also named Hamilton as the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Elementary Teacher of the Year.

Hamilton is thrilled with the TCTELA recognition. The educator believes that it is her responsibility to prepare students for the future.

My goal is to empower students to transform their lives,” said Hamilton. “I am not just preparing my students for the next grade level or for the STAAR (state standardized test).

I am preparing them for their future as employees, spouses and parents. I want them to be valuable contributors to our community.”
