Aldine ISD Students Need Your Vote: Art in the Middle People’s Choice Award Online Voting Ends March 15
The two young artists’ works are among the 30 finalists chosen from more than 320 in the Houston area.
[dropcap color=”#888″ type=”square”]J[/dropcap]acqueline Martínez and Zane Justice need you to visit the 2017 Direct Energy Art in the Middle Art Contest to vote for them. They are among the 30 in the area vying for the People’s Choice Award.

Middle School students across Houston took part in the contest. The Art Colony Association supports art education. The association is also the producer of The Bayou City Art Festival Downtown in the fall and Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park in the spring.
The 2017 spring festival runs March 24-26. The public will have a chance to meet more than 300 artists working 19 different mediums.
Among the artworks on display at the Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park will be Jacqueline and and Zane’s pieces.
Judges selected their works to form part of the 30 finalists of the Art in the Middle Contest.
In February, Spring Studios exhibited the works of all the students that competed.

Finalists and the People’s Choice winner will receive prizes on March 26 at the festival during the Awards Recognition Ceremony.
Amanda Bennett, the festival’s featured artist, will also speak to the finalists.
Jacqueline’s art teacher is Allison Hamacher at Drew Academy. Zane’s art teacher is Anthony Hurlburt at Houston Academy.
Zane’s piece titled “The Angry Fish” currently holds third place in online voting. The top three People’s Choice winners will receive prizes.
