Carter Academy Student’s Frida Kahlo-Inspired Artwork Featured at the Hardy & Nance Studios in Downtown Houston

The group show formed part of the 12th Annual Frida Festival celebrated in the city’s East End.

Each year, the Frida Festival unites the Houston community through creative expression. Organizers collaborate with local artists and businesses. The event celebrates the life of one of Latin America’s respected and influential visual artists: Frida Kahlo.

Due to growth, the 12th Annual Frida Festival the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]East End Studio Gallery produced three separate events. The two-day street festival took place April 28-29 on the Esplanade (2600 Navigation Blvd.) in the East End.

The group show took place April 8 at the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Hardy & Nance Studios in historic downtown Houston. 

Carter Academy had a kindergarten student’s artwork make the show. Yes, a kindergartner!

Jesús Rosas’ work titled “The Princess and the Pea” is a black and white photograph inspired by Frida Kahlo.

His art teacher Yvonne López is proud of her young photographer. She stated that Jesús played the roles of art director and photographer.
