Esparza, Avalos, Mead and Booker returned to Aldine ISD Board of Trustees seats
Voters in Aldine ISD went to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 7 and returned incumbents Connie Esparza, Rose Avalos and Steve Mead to their respective seats on the Board of Education.
Ms. Esparza defeated challenger Barry Ward for the Position 4 seat. Ms. Esparza received 1,800 votes to Ward’s 1,321 votes.
Ms. Avalos ran unopposed and was returned to the Position 3 seat and Mr. Mead ran unopposed and was returned to the Position 5 seat. Ms. Avalos received 2,603 votes and Mr. Mead received 2,694 votes.
Dr. Kimberley Booker was elected to the Position 6 seat after AISD Trustees canceled a special election at the Sept. 19 Board meeting because Dr. Booker ran unopposed. Dr. Booker was appointed to the Position 6 seat in February 2017 to fill the unexpired term of former Trustee Merlin Griggs.
