59th Annual Aldine ISD Livestock Show and Sale of Champions Kicks Off Thursday, Feb. 1

The AISD community gave a combined total of nearly $232,000 during the 2017 show for student projects. The District hopes the community will once again step up to support students at the 2018 event.

Students exhibit a variety of livestock including steers, horses, goats, sheep, turkeys, chickens and swine.

District leaders invite everyone to attend the Annual AISD Livestock Show and Auction. The 2018 event is set for Feb. 1 and 2 at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center (1865 Aldine Bender Road).

High school students will exhibit a variety of livestock including steers, horses, sheep, goats, poultry and swine. They will also be exhibiting non-livestock projects such as agricultural mechanics and western-themed art. Students dedicate many hours each year to select, care for and develop their projects.

The show gives students the opportunity to learn responsibility and showmanship,” Franklin Higgins, director of career and technical education, said. “They have earned a chance to compete for funds for financing future projects and post-secondary education.”

Livestock judging will begin at 8 a.m. on Feb. 1 and conclude with the Steer Show, which starts at 4 p.m.

All livestock and art projects will be on display for public viewing throughout the day on Feb. 1 and 2.
