Dean at Lone Star College-East Aldine Center Is an Aldine ISD Grad and Former School Principal

Dr. Luis Lucio has been sharing information with the community about the campus set to open in fall 2019.

Dr. Luis Alfredo Lucio was named the dean at LSC-East Aldine Center in fall 2018. Lucio joins the LSC-North Harris family from the Houston Independent School District, where he served as a senior recruiter for teacher recruitment and selection talent acquisition. He was also an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas, where he taught bilingual-dual language education. Prior to these concurrent roles, Lucio was principal of Carroll Elementary in the Aldine ISD.

Lucio grew up in the Aldine community and graduated from MacArthur High School before attending classes at LSC-North Harris. A consistent advocate for student success and bilingual education, Lucio has dedicated his career to championing teacher success and student retention in the classroom. He created the University of St. Thomas Bilingual Teacher Cohort and is a member of several professional organizations, including Suburban Houston Association of Bilingual Education (SHABE), Texas Association of Bilingual Education (TABE) and National Association of Bilingual Education (NABE).

Lucio holds a doctor of education in educational leadership from the University of Houston. He earned a master of education in educational leadership with a concentration in school administration and a bachelor of arts in academic studies with a concentration in bilingual education and Spanish, both from Sam Houston State University.

InsideAldine featured Lucio in 2015 for a story about Aldine ISD’s Homegrown Bilingual Teacher Scholarship Program. Lucio had intentions to pursue another career. The AISD graduate found his true niche while working as a paraprofessional at Oleson Elementary School right after graduating from high school. Lucio soon realized that he wanted to be a bilingual teacher and help support the community he came from by serving as an educator. The Homegrown Bilingual Teacher Scholarship Program made that possible for him.
