Aldine ISD is partnering with ProUnitas as an additional step to provide equity for students across the district.

ProUnitas will help Aldine ISD build and strengthen their current student support infrastructure to ensure all students thrive in school and beyond. The three-year partnership includes creation of a online referral system to track and respond to requests for services, an online resource map to identify where internal and external services are located, and an early-warning mechanism tool called PurpleSENSE. PurpleSENSE will empower Aldine ISD staff to identify students who are in need of support, connect them to the resources they need, and monitor the progress of intervention.

ProUnitas is helping schools build their own capacity to provide more than just academic support so that students are wholly supported. Part of this is maximizing the services provided to Aldine ISD students as well as forge additional external and internal partnerships with service providers to meet the needs of all students. The goal is aligned with the district’s strategic plan, A New Way Forward, to ensure no child falls between the cracks, eliminating chronic absenteeism, behavior issues, and increasing student achievement.

“We are excited about partnering with an innovative district like Aldine ISD to strengthen the safety net for all students and their families,” Adeeb Barqawi, president and CEO of ProUnitas, said. “Having an infrastructure that allows for more alignment, integration, and efficiency within the district will help ensure all students get the right resources at the right time in order to succeed.”

Outside of school, students might be facing food insecurity or lack of stable housing. District leaders and administrators know that the challenges students face do not end upon entering school doors. Unfortunately, these experiences follow our students into their classrooms and deeply affect their learning at school. With the help of ProUnitas, district staff will be able to quickly identify internal and external services to assist students in need.

This holistic approach mindset helps provide services to the whole child, which not only includes reading and math but also their physical health, mental health, social and emotional needs. The program will work with the district to compile all current services provided to students and create a multitude of opportunities to better help students who might need extra assistance. They will work hand-in-hand with campuses to ensure all students are able to focus on learning.

The partnership will create a solid infrastructure so that uncontrollable circumstances affecting students will no longer hinder their educational experience. No longer leaving room for students to fall through the cracks.
