Counseling Services Available for Aldine ISD Families
Although campuses are closed as a result of COVID-19, counselors are still available to help students.
Throughout the school year, Aldine ISD counselors meet with students regularly. Whether a student needs advice, help to navigate their home environment, a change in their academic schedule, access to community resources, or just a place to check-in.
Although campuses are closed as a result of COVID-19, counselors are still available to help students during these times of uncertainty.
“Our counselors are trained to help students and their families navigate through difficult times and decisions. While normally, they are a simple phone call away, or students can drop into their office, the times don’t allow for this ease of interaction. Certainly, we know that not being at school, families may not know who to contact. But students and families’ needs have increased,” said Dr. Charlotte Davis, assistant superintendent of student support services. “Counselors are armed with a variety of resources and tools for nearly every situation. They stand ready to assist students.”
The department has created a new platform that allows families to contact someone about their needs quickly. Students can click on the area that aligns with their needs and complete the form. Someone will follow up with them immediately. While the form is in English, those who speak Spanish or another language can select their language of choice from a dropdown menu. It is located in the top right-hand corner of either the landing page or the dialogue form.
Users will see both a translated form and translated messages in their preferred language.
The tool does not replace face-to-face meetings or telephone calls.
“If there is an emergency, please dial 911 or contact the appropriate emergency personnel,” Davis said.
