Wonda Plummer Retiring After 19 Years of Service to Aldine ISD

Wonda Plummer devoted 19 years to Aldine ISD.

(Editor’s Note: Due to the cancellation of the Employee Awards Banquet, Aldine’s Communications Department will feature employees who have announced they will retire at the conclusion of the 2019-2020 school year).

Wonda Plummer devoted 29 years as an educator and she spent 19 of those years with Aldine ISD.

After earning a bachelor’s of science degree from Grambling State University, Plummer began her teaching career with North Forest ISD where she served as a self-contained teacher at the first-, second- and third-grade levels before teaching fifth-grade reading.

After 10 years with NFISD, Plummer joined Aldine ISD and taught at the intermediate level as a fifth- and sixth-grade ELA teacher at Hill Intermediate School (now Hill Elementary School).

She completed her educational journey as a third-grade ELA teacher at Parker Elementary School.

Plummer said she chose education as a profession because it afforded her the chance to shape young mind.

“I chose education as my profession because it allowed me to have a direct opportunity to impart knowledge and encouragement into young minds and strengthen them for the next level,” she said.

And what will she miss the most as she enters a new phase in her life?

“I will miss the sweet-spirited, inquisitive and energetic kids,” she said.
