Staff Assignments Announced at June 11 Board of Trustees Meeting

During the June 11 Board of Trustees meeting, Aldine ISD Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney announced three staff assignments.

  • Joshua Van Donsel was named Principal of Blanson CTE High School after serving as an Assistant Principal at that same school.
  • Dr. Cedric Stewart was named Principal of Victory Early College High School after serving as Principal of Houston Academy.
  • Sheryl Duncan was named Principal of Calvert Elementary School after serving as an Assistant Principal at Greenspoint Elementary School.

Trustees Approve Action Items

During the June 11 Board of Education meeting, Aldine ISD Trustees approved the following action items:

  • Approved minutes from previous board meetings
  • Approved the TASB Board of Directors nomination for Region 4, Position A
  • Approved an interlocal agreement between Harris County and Aldine ISD for the Community Youth Services Program from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025
  • Approved a Master Affiliation Agreement between Sam Houston State University and Aldine ISD for the conduct of an on-site clinical Internships Education Program for Sam Houston State University students until May 31, 2027
  • Approved an interlocal agreement between Harris County Department of Education (high Point High School East) and Aldine ISD for Disciplinary Alternative Education Program for 2024-25
  • Approved an interlocal agreement for specialized services between Harris County Department of Education Fortis Academy (recovery high school) and Aldine ISD for the 2024-25 school year
  • Approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Harris County Juvenile Board for the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP) for the 2024-25 school year
  • Approved the Career and Technical Education Instructional Materials for 7th-12th grade for the 2024-25 school year
  • Approved to submit a low attendance waiver to the TEA for Aldine ISD
  • Approved a Memorandum of Understanding between Aldine ISD and the University of Houston Downtown Reading Collaboration to support aspiring and bilingual teacher candidates for the 2024-25 school year
  • Approved a District Educational Professional Services Agreement between Aldine ISD and Teach for America, Inc. for the 2024-25 school year
  • Approved an interlocal agreement between Aldine ISD and the University of Houston-Downton for Aldine ISD Grow Your Own Teacher Preparation Program effective June 2024 through June 2026
  • Approved an interlocal agreement between Aldine ISD and Texas Women’s University of Aldine ISD’s Grow Your Own Teacher Preparation Program effective June 2024 through June 2026
  • Approved the 2024-25 Compensation Manual
  • Approved a Resolution for staff pay during district closure on May 17, 2024 and May 20, 2024
  • Approved single contracts and purchases of $100,000 and greater
  • Approved a Board Resolution of Commitment of Fund Balance for a Property Self-Insurance Program
  • Approved General Funds and Debt Service Funds final budget amendment for the 2023-24 school year
  • Approved Monthly Tax Office refunds

The July Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 16 and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Board Room of the Donaldson Administration Building.
