Aldine ISD Board of Trustees Adopts 2025-26 Tax Rate

During its Sept. 16 meeting, the Aldine ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to adopt a tax rate of $1.034 per $100 of assessed property value for the 2025-26 school year, maintaining the same tax rate as the previous year. The tax rate includes $0.7315 for the Maintenance and Operation Fund (M&O), which covers the district’s day-to-day operations, and $0.3025 for the Interest and Sinking Fund (I&S) to repay debt such as the voter-approved bond. A a public hearing to discuss the proposed tax rate was held in June.

Aldine Impact Award Winners

The Aldine ISD Board of Trustees recognized the winners of the Aldine Impact Award, which honors employees and community members who go above and beyond the call of duty in their respective roles within the district. Board Member Paul Shanklin nominated LaNeatra Foster and Tanya Davis Thibodeaux for the Aldine Impact Award and Board Secretary Steve Mead nominated Sandra Mader.

Employee Recognitions

• Aldine ISD Police Commander Orville Wright named Sergeant William Dawkins as the Police Department’s Employee of the Month.
• Chief Financial Officer Timothy Momanyi recognized the Aldine ISD payroll department in honor of National Payroll Week, which took place Sept. 1 – 5. The department consists of Kristi Grant, executive director of payroll; Takara Bell, payroll supervisor; Sofia DeBlanc, payroll analyst; Maria Sanchez, teacher retirement system (TRS) specialist; Erica Buck, lead payroll specialist; Yvette White, lead payroll specialist; Sandra Matamoros, payroll clerk; Adriana Montemayor, payroll clerk; and Dana Sanford, payroll clerk.
• Chief Operations Officer Dr. Fred Washington named Terrence Harris as the Employee of the Quarter for the Department of Operations. Other nominees were Angel Hernandez with the Maintenance Department; Eumeca Smithers with the Child Nutrition Services; members of the routing department, which include, Charlene Jones, supervisor; Tishara Hill, Lauren Buck, and Ireka Jones with north transportation center; Maritza Carmona, Geneva Medina, Tameka Booker, Myriam Tovar, Ebony Adams, and Chantel Ardoin with the west transportation center.

Staff Assignments Announced

• Dr. Cierra Nickerson was named the new principal of Avalos P-TECH after serving as the Director of Professional Learning at Aldine ISD.
• Jamie Manuel was named the Director of Professional Learning in the Teaching and Learning Department after serving as the Program Director of Primary Language Arts.
• Tiffany Manwaring was named the Executive Director of the Grants Department after serving as the Director of Position Control in the Accounting and Finance Department.

Trustees Approved Action Items

The Board of Trustees approved the following action items:

• Minutes of previous meeting (s).
• Resolution nominating candidates to be placed on the ballot for a position on the Board of Directors of the Harris Central Appraisal District.
• Submitted the staff development minutes waiver application to the Texas Education Agency for the 2025-26 school year.
• Shared service agreement with Region 4 Regional Day School Program for the Deaf for the 2025-26 school year.
• Ratification of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Prairie View A&M University and Aldine ISD to provide health, wellness, and community education programs through September 20, 2026.
• Harris County Extension Services Office recognition of the Texas 4-H organization and eligible for extracurricular status with Aldine ISD under the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Services Program for the 2025-26 school year.
• A memorandum of understanding between Advise Texas and Aldine ISD for the 2025-26 school year.
• A memorandum of understanding between OneGoal and Aldine ISD for the 2025-26 school year.
• Letter of agreement for Licensure Programs between the Aldine Independent School District and Walden University for the 2025-26 school year.
• Administrator contracts for outside services with vendors
• Single contracts and purchases of $100,000 and greater.
• Monthly tax office refunds.

Before the start of the Sept. 19 meeting, Emma Lozano, a student at Francis Elementary led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Flag. The Nimitz High School JROTC Color Guard presented the colors.
