Aldine ISD to Celebrate Love the Bus Day on Friday, Feb. 6, 2025

Aldine Independent School District will celebrate Love the Bus Day on Friday, Feb. 6, joining school districts across the country in recognizing the essential role school transportation plays in students’ daily lives.

While Love the Bus is traditionally observed as a monthlong or weeklong national campaign, Aldine ISD has chosen to focus its celebration on a single day dedicated to honoring the district’s school bus drivers and transportation staff — professionals who safely transport thousands of students to and from school each day.

Love the Bus Day is an opportunity to recognize the people, purpose, and pride behind the yellow school bus. Aldine ISD’s bus drivers are often the first and last district employees students see each school day, helping set the tone for learning while ensuring students arrive safely and ready to learn.

The day also serves as a reminder of the importance of school bus safety. Families and students are encouraged to review safe riding practices, including staying seated, following driver instructions, and waiting for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching or exiting.

Beyond appreciation and safety, Love the Bus Day helps strengthen connections between schools, families, and the Aldine ISD Transportation Department — highlighting how transportation is a vital part of the district’s commitment to supporting students and families.

How Schools and Families Can Participate

• Thank a Bus Driver: Write a note, make a card, or simply say “thank you.”
• Wear Yellow: Show school spirit and support for transportation staff.
• Share the Love: Post positive messages and photos on social media using #LoveTheBus and #AldineStory.
• Talk About Safety: Use the day as a chance to review bus safety rules at school or at home.

It Takes a Village

The Transportation Department comprises 647 employees. Team members include bus drivers, parts/mechanics, dispatch, routers, bus Aides, bus driver trainers, bus camera and fleet technicians, office staff, transportation daycare, and administrative staff.
