Aldine Young Women’s Leadership Academy, NCBW100 to Host STEMsational Conference for Middle and High School Girls

Aldine Young Women’s Leadership Academy and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.-Houston Metropolitan Chapter are inviting girls from across Aldine ISD and surrounding communities to explore their future careers in science, technology, engineering, and math at its annual STEMsational: Future Women in STEM Conference.

The one-day conference will take place Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Aldine Young Women’s Leadership Academy, located at 19850 E. Hardy Rd., Houston 77073. The event is open to all girls in grades 6–12, including both Aldine ISD and non-Aldine ISD students.

Limited Spots!

Due to the hands-on nature of the experience, participation is limited to the first 100 students who register.

“This conference is about exposing young women to what’s possible in STEM — not just through conversation, but through meaningful, hands-on experiences,” said Dr. Jericah Jackson, principal of Aldine Young Women’s Leadership Academy. “We want students to leave inspired, confident, and able to see themselves in these careers.”

The conference is a collaborative effort between Aldine Young Women’s Leadership Academy and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and is part of YWLA’s broader efforts to recruit, retain, and empower young women interested in STEM pathways.

The conference will take place toward the end of Black History Month and right before the start of Women’s History Month.

“The timing couldn’t be better as schools and communities work to increase access and exposure to STEM opportunities for girls, particularly those who have historically had fewer pathways into these fields,” Jackson said. “This is an educational opportunity aligned with workforce readiness and student exposure.”

What to Expect

Students will participate in interactive workshops focused on coding, artificial intelligence, and digital animation; engage with professional women working in STEM fields; and explore postsecondary options at a college and career resource fair.

Parents will also have dedicated programming, including college-readiness sessions designed to help families navigate preparation, admissions, and long-term planning for higher education.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for attendees, and students will have opportunities to participate in raffle giveaways and prize drawings throughout the day.
