Eisenhower Softball Builds on Breakthrough Season, Eyes Continued Growth in 2026

The Eisenhower High School softball team showed improvement during its 2025 season, increasing its win total from three to 10 and returning to the playoffs for the first time since the 2021–22 season.

Under the leadership of head coach Jocilynn Ellis, the Eagles emphasized growth, accountability and resilience—elements that fueled the program’s turnaround and now serve as the foundation for continued success.

Ellis said the team’s progress stemmed from difficult but necessary conversations and a shift in mindset.

“We had to learn how to fight and scrap for every play,” Ellis said. “That, in turn, taught the team they are capable of making plays they didn’t think they could make before.”

That scrappy approach carried into the team’s preparation, including a renewed focus on strength training. Ellis said the Eagles made notable physical and mental gains, areas she believes elevated the program.

“The team has grown physically by being intentional in the weight room and adding numbers to our program,” Ellis said. “They’ve also grown mentally by developing a better understanding of the game—situational awareness and how to perform in tough moments. We challenged our players to improve their pitch selection and be more selective at the plate by swinging only at strikes.”

While the focus remains on continued improvement, Ellis said celebrating progress is important. She and her staff make a point to celebrate daily successes and individual growth, reinforcing confidence throughout the roster.

The Eagles are motivated to build the positives from last season.

Junior pitcher Jasmine Juarez, one of the team’s leaders, said the 2025 season played a key role in her development on and off the field. She credited improvements in her defense and hitting with helping her grow as a leader.

“Leadership means setting an example and helping newcomers adjust to the program,” Juarez said.

Juarez is known for encouraging her teammates and maintaining a positive presence, even after mistakes. Her focus remains on continuing to work hard and helping the Eagles return to the playoffs.

With returning contributors such as Juarez and a foundation built on resilience and accountability, Eisenhower aims to make another playoff appearance in the 2026 season. The Eagles open their season Feb. 3 against Cypress Park at Cypress Park High School at 6 p.m. Their first home game is scheduled for Feb. 19 at 1 p.m.
