Eisenhower High Spanish Club Scores at Pan American Student Forum Contest

Twenty-four Spanish Club members from Eisenhower High School attended the 2014 Pan American Student Forum held March 7-9 in San Antonio. The students competed with 1,653 peers from across the state.

The 2014 theme, Herencia Cultural: Mi Tesoro (Cultural Heritage: My Treasure), focused on the study of all Pan American countries.

During the opening ceremonies of the contest, known as Noche Panamericana, the Eisenhower High students performed their humorous skit “Los exploradores en busca del tesorito” (“The Explorers in Search of the Little Treasure”).

The skit production cast was comprised by Leonidas Villatoro, Ninoska Soto, Vivián Calderón, Blanca Castañeda, Stephanie González, Savannah Wilmore, Dasia Warner, Myriam Palacios, Jorge A. Flores, Eleazar Mendoza, Diana Pérez, Jesús Castellano, Homero Ruiz, Julianne Valdez, Stephanie Leal, Rachel Feliciano, Lucero Fernández, Michell Flores, Mayra Palacios, William Espinoza, Esteban Grimaldi, Noemí Villanueva, Eleazar Mendoza (Eisenhower Art Club), Jennifer Cruz, and Jennifer Hernández. Ann Crick, Spanish teacher at the campus, helped write the script.

The Ike students also competed in various events including Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Civilization and Vocabulary. Five students placed in their events.
