Over 100 Aldine ISD Students Invited to Join Phi Theta Kappa

Over 100 Aldine ISD students have been invited to join Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges. This year marks the largest number of invitations in the district’s history, a true reflection of the students’ excellence, dedication, and hard work in their dual credit coursework at Lone Star College.

To be eligible for Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), students must complete at least 12 college credit hours and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. This year’s group includes sophomores, juniors, and seniors from multiple Aldine ISD high schools.

Among the invitees, Davis High School had the highest number, with 38 students receiving invitations, followed by Avalos P-TECH with 37. Other schools with recognized students include Eisenhower High School (12), Victory Early College High School (12), Aldine High School (7), Carver High School (4), and Blanson CTE High School (3). Additional numbers from other campuses are pending confirmation.

“We are incredibly proud of these students for their hard work and dedication,” said Susan Pelezo, executive director of advanced academics. “Earning an invitation to Phi Theta Kappa is a testament to their commitment to academic success and their bright futures ahead.”

While Aldine ISD will not host a districtwide ceremony, each campus will hold its own recognition event in the spring to celebrate its students’ achievements.

Membership in Phi Theta Kappa recognizes academic excellence and provides a gateway to numerous benefits. These include access to scholarship opportunities, leadership development programs, and community service initiatives. Students’ hard work and academic dedication open doors to a bright future. Invitations to PTK are extended twice a year, providing students with regular opportunities to excel.
