Aldine ISD Helps Students Take Next Step Toward College Through ‘Launching to Lone Star’ Events
Disponible en:
Aldine ISD supports seniors who have accepted admission to Lone Star College as they prepare for their next postsecondary step.
The Launching to Lone Star initiative helps seniors from all Aldine ISD high schools complete key college onboarding steps. Enrollment events support their transition from high school to Lone Star College, one of Aldine ISD’s higher education partners.
Events give students a one-stop experience for enrollment tasks. Staff assist with application status, financial aid (FAFSA/TASFA), advising, course scheduling, and student portal activation.
“Launching to Lone Star is about removing barriers and making sure students have the support they need to confidently begin college,” said Trina Wright, Aldine ISD program director of college partnerships. “By bringing campus, district, and college support teams together in one setting, students are able to complete important steps, ask questions, and leave feeling more prepared for what comes next. The initiative aligns with our district’s College Career and Military Readiness (CCMR) goals.”
Events took place across the district at Aldine, Davis, and Nimitz High Schools, and at M.O. Campbell Educational Center. Students from Avalos P-TECH, Carver, Blanson CTE, Eisenhower, Victory Early College, La Promesa, and Hall Success Academy attended the MOC event. The final event is April 29, 2026, at Nimitz High School from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
At each event, students visited support stations, guided by staff and advisors. The goal: help meet summer and fall enrollment requirements, reduce confusion, and keep students on track with aid and academic deadlines.
The initiative reflects Aldine ISD’s focus on helping students move from acceptance to enrollment. For many seniors, the final steps before college can feel overwhelming. Launching to Lone Star gives students time, space, and guided support to complete those steps before graduation, helping them leave high school with a clearer plan for summer or fall coursework.
The events also gave students a chance to connect with the people and resources that will support them after high school. In addition to completing enrollment steps, students were able to ask questions, clarify next steps, and begin seeing themselves as college students.
Aldine ISD works with partners like Lone Star College to expand access and support students as they pursue opportunities after graduation.
