Aldine ISD Community Comes Together to Launch New School Year at Back-to-School Expo

More than 2,500 students, families, and community members gathered at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center on July 30 for Aldine ISD’s 11th Annual Back-to-School Expo, where volunteers distributed 3,200 backpacks filled with school supplies to help students begin the 2026-2027 school year prepared for success.

“Our goal is for every Aldine ISD student to begin the school year feeling prepared, supported and excited to learn,” Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney said. “The Back-to-School Expo reflects the very best of Aldine. Our employees, community partners and volunteers come together to remove barriers for families and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive. Seeing our families connect with resources and leave with smiles on their faces reminds us why this work matters.”

Hosted by Aldine ISD and organized by the district’s Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Department, the event connected families with the resources they need for a successful start to the school year. Families completed their required Annual Student Update to receive free backpacks filled with school supplies while also exploring dozens of community resource booths, health services, district departments and family-friendly activities.

The Expo brought together Aldine ISD employees, volunteers and community organizations with one shared goal — helping students begin the school year prepared, confident and ready to learn.

“The Back-to-School Expo is much more than a school supply giveaway,” said LaTashia Abrams, executive director of Aldine ISD’s Family and Community Engagement Department. “It’s an opportunity to connect families with the people, programs and resources that support student success throughout the year. When schools, families and community partners come together with a shared purpose, we create stronger opportunities for every child.”

The success of this year’s Expo was made possible through the generous support of Aldine ISD’s community partners and sponsors, whose contributions helped provide school supplies, resources and services for Aldine families. Their partnership reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to ensuring every student begins the school year with the tools needed to succeed.

As families visited exhibitor booths, children enjoyed interactive activities while parents connected with organizations offering educational, health and community resources designed to support students beyond the classroom.

Aldine ISD extends its sincere appreciation to the many sponsors, community partners, volunteers, and staff members whose dedication made the event possible. Together, they demonstrated the power of partnership in helping Aldine students and families start the new school year strong.

“Our community partnerships are essential to this work. Together, we’re building stronger schools, stronger families, and a stronger community,” emphasized Abrams.
