Elementary Student Wins People’s Choice Award in Power of Art Contest

Chelsea Nguyen, a student at Kujawa Elementary School, was recently named one of three winners of the Reliant Power of Art “People’s Choice Award.”

Local students in kindergarten through fifth grade, who were finalists in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s School Art Contest, had submitted their drawings, which were on display at the Hayloft Gallery in Reliant Center and on www.reliant.com/poa through March 30. The general public could go to the website and place their vote to help Reliant pick three winners. Each year, voting determines the winners who will receive $2,000 for art supplies for the school and district, courtesy of Reliant.

Nguyen’s piece received the most votes of any of the other artwork selected for the competition. Nguyen received a $1,000 art supply gift card for Aldine ISD and a $1,000 art supply gift card for her school. She was also awarded a special Power of Art package.
