Student Wins Astros/Whataburger Fielder’s Choice Award

Representatives from the Houston Astros and Whataburger visited Escamilla Intermediate School on May 7 to announce student Eve Bochar as one of the four Houston-area winners of the Fielder’s Choice Award. The annual Astros/Whataburger Fielder’s Choice Award program, invites students to submit essays about making good choices in their lives.
More than 2,000 essays from 25 Houston-area schools were received. As a winner, Bochar received a gift package from both the Astros and Whataburger. Additionally, Escamilla Intermediate received 500 tickets for the Astros’ May 7 game against the Miami Marlins.
Houston shortstop Jed Lowrie also addressed the students about making the right choices in their lives. He also took questions from the audience.
