Taylor, Stewart Named AISD Principals of the Year

The district recently named Everette Taylor of Ermel Elementary School and Walter Stewart of Aldine Ninth Grade School Aldine ISD’s top principals.

Taylor was named the district’s Elementary/Intermediate Principal of the Year, while Walter Stewart was named Secondary Principal of the Year. The two earned the titles after being chosen by their peers from throughout the district in a balloting process.

Taylor

Taylor has a total of 17 years of experience in the field of education with 12 of those years with Aldine ISD. He began his teaching career in Port Arthur ISD in 1995 where he served as a language arts teacher at Wilson Middle School; from 1996-1997, he served as a fifth grade teacher at Washington Elementary School. In 1998, Taylor worked for Aldine ISD where he served as an English and Spanish teacher at Eckert Intermediate School. He relocated to Port Arthur ISD in 2000 and served as an assistant principal at Washington Elementary School. Taylor returned to Aldine ISD in 2002 to serve as an assistant principal at Conley Elementary School where he remained for six years before being named principal of Ermel Elementary School. He has served as principal for four years.

Stewart

Stewart is currently serving his 21st year as an educator. He began his teaching career as a secondary math teacher in his hometown of Greensburg, Louisiana in 1991 before serving as a teacher at Plaquemine High School in Plaquemine, Louisiana in 1995. In 1996, Stewart moved to Houston and began teaching mathematics at MacArthur Senior High School. During his tenure at MacArthur, he was selected Teacher of the Year for the 2003-2004 school year and he also served as math department chair from 2000 to 2005. In 2005, Stewart was named assistant principal of Aldine Middle School before being named principal of Aldine Ninth Grade School in 2008.

Taylor was very honored to be named by his fellow peers.

“It is a great honor and I am grateful,” stated Taylor. “Any personal achievements I receive as a principal are a direct reflection of the leadership of my previous administrators, consistent support of colleagues, and the collaborative efforts of my staff, students and the parents.”

Taylor and Stewart will be honored at the Employee Awards Banquet, which will be held on May 17.
