Transportation Changes for 2012-2013 School Year

In an effort to become more efficient and reduce operational costs, the Aldine ISD Transportation Department will change the way it operates its after-school activity bus runs (XC runs) for high school and middle school students who participate in after-school activities for the 2012-2013 school year. After-school activities include athletics, band and performing arts, student organizations, and many other programs in which students participate after the regular school day. The change will take affect beginning on the first day of school on Monday, August 27.

The district will no longer drop off students at multiple stops in neighborhoods or subdivisions for its high school and middle school after-school activity runs. Bus stops have been combined and the after-school bus runs will be similar to the 2011-2012 school runs. This will allow for maximizing student-ridership and utilizing fewer school buses.

The new transportation system will drop off high school and middle school students, who participate in after-school activities, in strategic locations including the front of some neighborhoods, subdivisions, apartment complexes, mobile home parks, some schools, and other strategic locations.

Although Aldine ISD will continue providing after-school transportation services, some school districts have eliminated transportation for their after-school programs.
