Houston Texans, Scholastic Make Donation to Worsham Elementary

The Houston Texans and Scholastic selected Worsham Elementary School to participate in both the NFL Play 60 Program and the Scholastic Read and Rise Program due to the students’ strong participation in the Summer Reading Challenge.

During the summer, Worsham students read 1,057,259 minutes, which placed the campus ninth best in the world. On Tuesday, Sept. 25, Texans rookie wide receiver DeVier Posey, center, presented Principal Denise Meister with a check for $4,500 on behalf of the Texans and Scholastic to provide every Worsham student with the opportunity to purchase a book. Pictured along with Meister and Posey are a group of Worsham students with Daniel Velasco (left), marketing manager for the Houston Texans.

It is also worth noting that Hill Intermediate School (4th Place) and Odom Elementary School (10th Place) also made it in the Top 20 of Scholastic’s Summer Challenge.
