Disponible en:
Dr. Alexis Cabarcas, Science Department chair and skill specialist at Aldine High School, was chosen to participate as part of the Educator Committee two-day meeting in October in Austin to review test items for STAAR L. Cabarcas worked on biology, chemistry and physics test items for the STAAR L Science Assessment.
STAAR L is a linguistically accommodated English version of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) grades 3–8 and end-of-course (EOC) mathematics, science, and social studies assessments. STAAR L is provided for English language learners (ELLs) who meet participation requirements for a substantial degree of linguistic accommodation in these subject areas. STAAR L will be administered as an online testing program beginning in spring 2013.
Cabarcas, a native of Colombia, received his doctorate from the University of Puerto Rico in marine science.
