Disponible en:
The Aldine/Spring/Klein Metro Go Texan Committee conducts four separate scholarship fund-raisers, and the money raised is delivered to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which awards 39 $16,000.00 scholarships to students in the three districts.
During past few years, Aldine ISD students have received more than $300,000.00 in scholarships each year. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is one of the largest continuous single funding of scholarships given to AISD students.
The most recent fund-raiser, the Santa Stampede, was held Dec. 8 at the Forest Oaks Swim and Community Center in Spring. The event included numerous races and an art competition. Dr. Wanda Bamberg, superintendent of schools for AISD, and other district administrators served as the honorary starters for the different races. Additionally, FFA members from five AISD high schools served as course monitors and timers.
This event also awards a Superintendent Participation Trophy to the district that has the most participation. The winner of the competition will be announced at the Sparkle and Spurs Gala, which is the final fundraising event for 2012-2013. The event will be held at the Spring Chateau on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013.
