Tracy Drain, a systems engineer with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, visited with Wilson Intermediate School students on December 17, 2012. Drain has helped design, test, and analyze spacecraft that are orbiting Mars and are on their way to Jupiter. She hopes to someday contribute to a mission to Jupiter’s moon Europa. She talked to fifth and sixth grade science students about the Juno project, the unmanned probe to the planet Jupiter, which she is currently working on. Her presentation included slides and the dialogue between Drain and students ranged from the formation of black holes to questions about the sun.
